Mill Cottage Access Statement

Mill Cottage is a characterful stone cottage providing guest accommodation on a ‘Self Catering’ basis

Mill Cottage is part of Felin Carrog, a 19th century former corn mill, cottage and barns

The nature of the building dictates some accessibility constraints and the following statement will provide more details


  • We are in a rural location and the use of a car is strongly recommended for our guests
  • The nearest train station is at Aberystwyth approximately 7 miles distant
  • Taxis can be found at the station but require booking for outward journeys from Mill Cottage
  • Due to the nature of the building we advise that guests with mobility or visual impairments are accompanied during their stay

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

  • There is a house name sign at the entrance to the drive
  • The parking area is located in front of the property on a flat surface
  • To reach the cottage from the parking area there is a step up into the courtyard garden and two further steps into the property
  • There is a sensor light above the front door for night

Main Entrance

  • There are two doors into the house 74cm wide
  • An audible smoke detector is located in the cottage
  • Complimentary superfast internet access is available in the cottage

Living area

  • There is a five seater corner sofa available with 43″ smart freesat television service
  • The dining end can cater for five people
  • There is a log burner for the winter months
  • The floor is quarry tiles
  • From this room there is access to the bedrooms and bathroom via the stairs. Please note the stairs are slightly steeper than normal

Kitchen / Utility

  • There is a fully equipped kitchen with induction hob, electric oven, fridge freezer, microwave, dishwasher and two butler sinks
  • The utility has outside access and a toilet and wash basin


  • There is a washer / dryer, ironing board and iron in the cottage


  • The bedroom doors do not have locks
  • Rooms have centrally operated ceiling lights and lamps giving good light levels
  • The floors are wooden
  • The master room has a door 72cms wide and has a standard double bed with access from both sides. The room also has a fitted wardrobe, a chest of drawers and bedside tables with lamps
  • The second double room has a door 72cms wide and has a standard double bed with access from both sides, a hanging rail, a tallboy chest of drawers, a bedside tables with lamps and a stool
  • The single room has a door 72cms wide, a standard single bed, a hanging rail, a tallboy chest of drawers and bedside table with lamp


  • The bathroom has a tiled floor
  • In the bathroom on the first floor there is a bath with 59cm high side
  • Over the bath there is a power shower with curved shower surrounds
  • There is a toilet – height 42cm


  • Mill Cottage has a small front courtyard garden with seating area available for guests
  • The drive leads to the pretty ford and bridge and guests are welcome to use the orchard area as well for dogs
  • A footpath leads from the front of the property into the surrounding countryside

Additional Information

  • There are two doors from which to evacuate the building and guests have a notice in the Welcome pack detailing the fire evacuation procedure
  • The cottage is non-smoking throughout
  • We have a secure outbuilding where bicycles can be left at their owners’ risk
  • Mobile phone reception is variable
  • We aim to be available for our guests as much as possible and are happy to advise on local attractions and facilities
  • Dogs are not allowed on the furniture and a crate can be supplied on request
  • A highchair can be supplied on request
